VISION SCHOOL
The FAS Project is dedicated to helping children without opportunities achieve change. Previously, no school existed in the east hills of Freetown; now, thanks to Vision School and the Fas Project, children are able to attend school and have every tool they need for their education.
The cost of the building’s lease is currently provided by a few caring individuals who had the vision to take underprivileged children off the street and put them into school. The Fas Project sponsors the school with textbooks, blackboards, chalk, and other educational materials. This partnership builds up not just the school, but the surrounding community; the positive effects of children’s education lifts everyone.
THE FAS PROJECT AND VISION SCHOOL
Fas Project founder Fas Lebbie spent much of his childhood in Freetown when his family lived there as refugees of war. In this time of nationwide instability, learned to read and write proficiently thanks to an elderly professor who offered him her time. Now, through the Fas Project, he hopes to pass that gift on to others.
Vision School is a co-ed learning environment for grades one to three. The school’s motto is: “Make a brighter future.” When the Fas Project team arrived after visiting many other schools and orphanages, they were immediately humbled by the extraordinary commitment of Vision School’s teaching staff. Though they live in a nation with seemingly insurmountable illiteracy, where institutions will continue recovering from war for decades to come, the teachers here were eager to change the lives of as many children as possible.
The Fas Project team is humbled and excited to work alongside such passionate, dedicated people. The founders and staff of the school saw the area lacked opportunity for education and volunteered time, effort, and resources to the critical work themselves. However, just as in many areas of the world, resources are scarce and the work is grueling. The Fas Project has the opportunity to play a large role in these teachers’ lives by sponsoring their work. Thanks to your donations, the Vision School staff can teach with freedom.
